In a statement, both leaders thanked Ortega for his friendship, as well as his “invariable commitment to Cuba, demonstrated throughout so many years of brotherhood.”

“We send you (Daniel Ortega) our best wishes for health and prosperity, and that you continue to obtain victories in the defense of the sovereignty and independence of Nicaragua against the attempts at imperialist domination,” the message stressed.

The text reiterated Cuba’s firm support for the Sandinista people and government, as well as its willingness to continue to strengthen the historic ties of brotherhood, cooperation and solidarity.
