The diplomat made the remarks during a meeting with the Uruguayan contingent that will travel to Cuba in January 2025 on a solidarity mission.
Marti told them about his country’s efforts to repair the damage caused in the last few weeks by Hurricanes Oscar and Rafael, and after by the two earthquakes that struck eastern Cuba.
The meeting was chaired by Marcelo Abad, president of the PIT-CNT trade union sponsoring the brigade, along with the Coordinating Committee for the Support of the Cuban Revolution.
Abad announced that the Uruguayans will participate in the 30th edition of the South American Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba. They will travel to the island between January 16 and 18 conveying medical supplies collected by the PIT-CNT.
