In addition to the National District, the provinces of Puerto Plata, María Trinidad Sánchez, La Altagracia, Santo Domingo, Hato Mayor, Monseñor Nouel, Espaillat, San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal, Samaná, Duarte, El Seibo, La Vega, Monte Plata, Santiago, San José de Ocoa and San Juan are on yellow alert.
The provinces on green alert are Sanchez Ramirez, La Romana, Elias Piña, Barahona, Peravia, Azua, Hermanas Mirabal and Pedernales. In this capital and other areas of the country it has been raining heavily since early this morning.
For this reason, the COE recommended citizens to refrain from crossing rivers, streams and creeks that present high volumes of water in the provinces on alert.
It explained that the influence of the tropical wave and the trough will cause a favorable environment to persist so that rainfall will continue in a large part of the country, mainly towards the Caribbean coast and the Atlantic coast.
The yellow alert indicates that the population should be prepared for the event and go to a safe place in case of being in a risk area.
In the territories under green alert, people should be attentive to the possible impact of an atmospheric phenomenon, according to the COE, responsible for the planning and coordination of actions among the institutions of the Disaster Prevention, Mitigation and Response System.
