According to the Pastrán Report bulletin, one of the most aggressive carcinomas, cervical cancer, decreased mortality levels here by 34 percent between 2007 and 2024 through prevention, early diagnosis and treatment.
According to the source, in 2006 there was only one women’s clinic in Nicaragua; however, since 2007, with the return to power of the government led by President Daniel Ortega, some 218 specialized clinics have been created here.
Likewise, last year more than 1,200,600 studies were carried out for the early detection of cervical cancer, six times more than in 2006, when 181,491 were performed.
The Nicaraguan Ministry of Health now has 300 cryotherapy and colposcopy equipment for early diagnosis and timely treatment of cervical cancer, the publication said.
