The head of diplomacy said in an interview to the HirTV television channel that the European Union (EU) will have to change its treatment to the conflict in Ukraine as a result of Donald Trump’s victory in the United States.
Szijjarto explained that the EU strategy is not feasible, because Trump intends to change the US approach to the events in Ukraine, and Europe alone will not be able to support the Ukrainian Army.
According to the minister, Trump “has made it clear that he will do everything possible to achieve peace during his term in office.”
At the same time, the EU has neither military, nor financial, nor economic might to replace the United States in sending arms deliveries and financial subsidies that the latter provided so far to Ukraine, the diplomat explained.
We need a new strategy for the sake of Europe itself, so that the problems we are concerned about do not hang over our heads, he continued.
In his opinion, Trump’s election victory, which instills hope over the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict, is good for the whole of Europe, as it will relieve it of unnecessary expenses. “The military budget can be replaced by a peace budget,” the Hungarian Foreign Minister opined.
