According to the general director of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (Ungrd), Carlos Carillo, the objective of the meeting will be to make decisions about the tools that the National Government will authorize, in the midst of a budgetary crisis, to guarantee the resources for the declaration of emergency in that region.
Data from this entity shows that there are already 25,355 families affected in 22 of its municipalities, that is, 70 percent of the department is affected by the heavy rains. The National Crisis Room of the Ungrd recommended to the mayors not to make isolated reports, but to channel all the information through the department, which will manage with the operative entities a reconnaissance overflight to verify the affected areas.
The deputy director for Disaster Management, Ricardo Hurtado, previously commented that due to the crisis, a commission was sent to the area affected and the operational have been mobilized: Army, Police, Civil Defense, Air Force, Red Cross and Firefighters to coordinate and contribute to the solution of the emergency.
