In the municipality of Quivicán, the head of state checked the process of recovery, following the the passage of the meteorological phenomenon, the Presidency of the Republic reported on the social network X.
Prior to his arrival in the territory, Díaz-Canel briefly stopped on the road to talk to members of a brigade from the telecommunications company, working to restore the service in the shortest time possible.
The president then went on to visit the Mayabeque Horticultural Research Institute “Liliana Dimitrova”, where four farms suffered severe damage.
He also spoke with residents of Quivicán, briefing them on the prompt arrival of brigades of workers from telecommunications and the electric company.
He acknowledged it will be an arduous task to recover, given the many fallen poles, but, he added, “we will recover.”
During a meeting with members of the Municipal Defense Council, the president requested details on the arrival of resources for repair works and the lack of water supply.
On Friday morning, the president visited the western province of Artemisa for the second time in the last few days, to assess the damage caused by Hurricane Rafael, which hit the west last Wednesday, after gaining category 3 on the Saffir-Simpson scale.
