Spain to fork out multi million euro fund for DANA victims

Madrid, Nov 5 (Prensa Latina) The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, announced today that a first package of 10,600 million euros has been approved to benefit the victims of the High Altitude Isolated Depression (DANA).

He also publicized that Valencia and the rest of the areas flooded last week will be declared seriously affected areas under civil protection emergency, which will facilitate the delivery of aid to the victims.

The first package, he expounded, will assist households, companies, self-employed and city councils of the 78 Valencian, Castilian-La Mancha and Andalusian municipalities hit by the flash floods.

The list of beneficiaries may encompass other municipalities and Autonomous Communities, depending on their respective needs.

An additional package of 838 million euros will go to small and medium-sized companies and self-employed workers affected by last week’s devastating weather system.

In describing the amount of aid for citizens, Sánchez indicated that up to 72 thousand euros will be allocated to disability cases, from 20,000 to 60,000 euros to repair damaged houses, and up to 10,300 thousand euros to replace o repair furniture and household appliances.
