In his account on the social network X, the Cuban foreign minister recalled recent talks with Thabit Kombo, currently visiting Havana, when he affirmed that both nations share great potential in areas such as biotechnology, health, education and agriculture.
Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of East Africa of the United Republic of Tanzania, will wind up his trip here on November 5, following meetings with several Cuban authorities and other activities.
Cuba and Tanzania established diplomatic relations in 1962 and shortly after, in 1964, the island started cooperation with that African state, mainly in the areas of education and health. Last January, Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés held a meeting in Dar es Salaam with his Tanzanian counterpart, Philip Isdor Mpango, during which both highlighted the good state of bilateral ties.
Last August, Valdés welcome August Kassim Majaliwa, Tanzanian Prime Minister, with whom he discussed possibilities of strengthening “relations that were started by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and the Father of the Tanzanian nation, Julius Nyerere.”
Tanzania, a country on the east coast of Central Africa, supports Cuba’s struggle against the United States’ blockade policy, which hinders its economic growth and social development.
