Cuba receives awards in India

New Delhi, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuba received in this capital on Monday two awards from the International Solar Alliance (ISA) due to the effective development of projects related to renewable energy sources.

Marlenis Aguila, Deputy Director of Renewable Energy at Cuba’s Energy and Mining Ministry (MINEM), received the awards during the opening ceremony of the 7th ISA Assembly, which is being held in New Delhi until Tuesday, November 5.

With these awards, the ISA Board highlighted the Cuban authorities’ collaboration in the efficient implementation of capacities for adopting solar energy.

One of the awards refers to the first Resource Center for the Application of Solar Energy in Latin America, located at the University of Havana, and is expected to be officially opened in December, Aguila told Prensa Latina.

This center will provide training and technical assistance not only to Cuba but also to other nations in the region, the specialist said.

The second award is for the establishment of the demonstration project of solar energy pumping, at the Experimental Station Indio Hatuey in Matanzas, she explained.

Such initiatives expose the unity between the objectives of the International Solar Alliance to support developing countries, and their commitment to implement them successfully.

Bhutan, Cambodia, Djibouti, Gambia, Mauritius, Burkina Faso, Samoa, Senegal, and Tonga received similar awards.
