Held at Havana’s Convention Center, the forum has brought together delegates from all Cuban provinces to analyze the organization’s functioning, difficulties and challenges, and the guild’s contribution to safeguarding national culture.
On Saturday, awards will be granted to those who have excelled in the work of the organization over the last five years.
There will also be a reading and debates on the main report to the event, whose premise is “UNEAC for the good of the nation.”
The Congress, which began on Friday, underscored highly topical issues such as cultural colonization and the challenges imposed by the far right on the peoples of the Global South through the manipulation of content and information on the Internet.
It also held sessions in committees of the associations of Writers; creators of Films, Radio and Television; Performing Artists; Visual Arts; and Music.
In this cultural platform, the creators who arrived in eastern Guantanamo province carrying a message of love and spirituality for those affected by Hurricane Oscar were acknowledged.
At the core of the debates were issues like the artists’ efforts to motivate the cultural life in the territories with various initiatives in these complex times for the Cuba, as well as the implementation of major government programs such as the fight against racism and racial discrimination, for the Advancement of Women and to confront cultural colonization, Sowing ideas, sowing awareness.
During the presentation of the main report, the will to continue to defend the promotion of the leading participation of the population in the cultural processes of the nation was ratified.
