In voicing their support to Cuba, they acknowledged Washington’s economic siege as the main cause behind the current energy crisis in Cuba.
The statement from the PCE and the PCP comes at a time when Cuba’s draft resolution against the US economic, commercial and financial blockade was massively approved the day before, with 187 votes in favor, two against and one abstention.
Cuba’s electric power grid is currently going through a critical situation, which has translated into continued interruptions of power supply, said the release, emphasizing that these difficulties have been “completely overcome in the last hours”, thanks to efforts by the Cuban authorities.
The release, appearing in Mundo Obrero, terms the blockade as a “criminal policy” that seeks to “suffocate Cuba and its people, and impose imperialist designs.”
