In a statement published Wednesday on the Foreign Ministry’s official website, the diplomat stated that her country’s Embassy in Helsinki sent some requests to the Foreign Ministry of the Nordic country and the Marshals Service to explain the situation.
Zakharova added that the legal assessment of the Finnish side’s actions will be made once the responses to Russia’s requests are received, and any illegal decisions will not remain unanswered.
On Tuesday, the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper reported the decision to seize the Russian Science and Culture Center in that capital, which came into effect on October 24. The list of seized property included 44 real estate objects with an estimated value of 35.5 million euros.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov assured that Russia would challenge the seizure of its real estate in Finland in court and plans to resort to “all legal mechanisms” to protect its interests.
