India, China military disengagement on border in final phase

New Delhi, Oct 30 (Prensa Latina) The process of disengagement between Indian and Chinese troops on the common border is almost complete, according to statements from a source in the Indian Ministry of Defense.

As part of the process, the armies of both nations are completing the phase of removing their infrastructure, according to statements from a spokesperson for the Ministry, who added that once the process has been completed, coordinated patrolling will begin.

These movements, between the two nations, are part of the agreement recently reached by New Delhi and Beijing, which marks an important step forward in the reestablishment of bilateral relations.

The arrangement includes surveillance of the Ladakh area to ensure that security violations do not occur, which will also lead to the solution of related problems, according to experts.

This step in bilateral policy was the result of several rounds of discussions through diplomatic and military channels over the past few weeks, Indian authorities stated at the time.

In recent days, at the 16th BRICS Summit held in Kazan, Russia, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed their satisfaction at the agreement reached in a bilateral meeting. Xi and Modi agreed that stable, predictable and friendly bilateral relations between their countries, as neighbors and the two most populous nations on the planet, will have a positive impact on regional and global peace and prosperity.

The two leaders noted that relevant dialogue mechanisms will be used at the level of Foreign Ministers and other authorities to stabilize and rebuild bilateral relations. They also expressed their belief that stable ties will contribute to a multipolar world and to advance bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, enhance strategic communication and explore cooperation to address development challenges.
