Djibouti daily highlights visit of Minister of Justice to Cuba

Djibouti, Oct 30 (Prensa Latina) The Minister of Justice and Penitentiary Affairs in charge of Human Rights of Djibouti, Ali Hassan Bahdon, visited Cuba to strengthen cooperation with judicial institutions on the Caribbean island, La Nation daily reported.

At the invitation of his Cuban counterpart, Oscar Silvera Martínez, Bahdon led a delegation made up of the President of the Court of First Instance, Omar-Said Ahmed Mohamed, the judge and inspector of judicial services, Mohamed Soultan Mohamed, and they were accompanied by the Djiboutian Ambassador in Havana, Nasser Mohamed Ousbo.

The ministerial visit that took place last week began with an interview between the two ministers during which Bahdon conveyed the message of solidarity and support of President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh in a period marked by the crisis in the electricity system that for several days affected Cuba.

For his part, Silvera Martinez warmly welcomed the message and promised to convey it to Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

The two parties signed two agreements, including the Treaty on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons between Djibouti and Cuba, which will be reviewed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National People’s Power Assembly of the two countries before its entry into force.

The other initialled document was the immediately applicable Cooperation Agreement between the Ministries of Justice, which forms the basis for technical cooperation, covering training, digitization, exchange of experience in the judicial and penitentiary field and professional immersion.
