Cuban President inspects recovery of areas hit by hurricane Oscar

Guantánamo, Cuba, 30 October (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today visited the municipality of Imías, in the eastern province of Guantánamo, to check on the recovery efforts from the damage hurricane Oscar caused.

The Head of State said in his X account that ‘we are working very hard, without rest’ in the areas affected by the meteorological event.

Cuban Party officials, central Government and local authorities are working hand in hand with the noble and hardworking people of Guantánamo, he wrote in X.

During his visit to Imías, Díaz-Canel spoke to the population about the work being done on roads, electricity and assistance of all kinds.

The President was accompanied by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, the secretary of the Organisation of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, and several ministers.

Hurricane Oscar caused seven deaths and considerable material damage when it hit communities in the eastern province of Guantánamo on 20 October.

The storm also caused heavy rains in the eastern and central provinces for several days.
