Comunes Party Senator Julián Gallo told Prensa Latina Washington’s blockade is not only a violation of international humanitarian law, but also a measure that violates the most elementary humanist precepts.

“Subjecting a nation to extermination using economic tools is only conceivable in sick minds, so we strongly reject this blockade, and we call for it to be lifted and allowed the Cuban people to have their basic prerogatives as their right to self-determination,” he said.

He stressed that it was essential to respect the right of a State not to interfere in its internal affairs by others, and pointed out that unilateral action did not only affect the Government, but its effects were detrimental to all its citizens.

For his part, Representative Gabriel Becerra also considered that Cuba did not deserve to be on the list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism, drawn up by the Department of State of the northern country.
