China supports Cuba in its fight against US blockade

Havana, Oct 30 (Prensa Latina) The Chinese Embassy in Havana issued a statement on Wednesday in which it reaffirms Beijing's support for Cuba's fight against the United States blockade.

The comprehensive blockade by US Governments for more than 60 years has caused the Cuban people extremely serious economic losses and humanitarian disasters, underlines the document to which Prensa Latina had access.

The official communiqué asserts that the hegemonic behavior by US administrations “will inevitably be condemned by the international community.”

China once again urges Washington to lift its blockade and sanctions against Cuba immediately and completely, according to the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and the basic norms of international law, it states.

It also calls for Cuba to be removed from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list and to desist from maintaining a position against “the international community, international morality and human awareness.”

The declaration also highlights that the UN General Assembly has adopted by an overwhelming majority, on 32 consecutive times, the resolution “Necessity of Ending the Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade Imposed by the United States of America against Cuba.”

“This is a fair call from the international community, which must be applied immediately and effectively,” the Chinese Government considers.

It also points out that “it is disappointing and outrageous” that the US votes against the resolution and its refusal “to end its sanctions” against the Caribbean country and “insists on including it on the ‘States Sponsors of Terrorism list.'”

China and Cuba are good friends, partners and brothers. China highly appreciates Cuba’s efforts to defend a fair and reasonable international order and promote global solidarity and cooperation, it assures.

Similarly, the document notes that “China stands in solidarity with Cuba in the face of the current difficulties and will continue to provide assistance to the best of its ability.”

It also repeats that China will “firmly support the Cuban Government and people so that they can overcome the difficulties as soon as possible and achieve national development and vitality.”
