In a statement issued in Bogota, that regional legislative house also called on the Government of Washington to remove the island from the unilateral list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism, considering it to be a false accusation and one of the reasons for maintaining the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade.
It recognized that the coercive measures imposed for more than 60 years severely curtail the sovereignty of Cuba and constitute the main obstacle to the exercise of its right to development and the full enjoyment by its citizens of their human rights.
The Parliament also pointed out that since 1992, at the annual sessions of the United Nations General Assembly, this hostile policy against the Cuban people has been condemned by the overwhelming majority of Member States on more than 30 consecutive occasions.
