Havana, Oct 28 (Prensa Latina) Manufacturers of radiopharmaceuticals from 12 Latin American countries will present their experiences at conference in Havana on how they meet the health regulatory requirements for these products.

Some 30 experts from all over the region are in Cuba to participate in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) workshop on the subject from October 28 to November 1.

The main objective of the event is to present the work of manufacturers of radiopharmaceuticals to meet the health regulatory requirements during the process of registration, licensing and marketing authorization, among other aspects, the organizers of the event said.

The meeting will be attended by the IAEA technical officer, Enrique Estrada, an expert from the Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging Section of that international agency.

The head of the Specialized Diagnosis and Therapy Center of the Surgical Medical Research Center, Mayka Guerrero, pointed out that the workshop will be an opportunity to learn about the regulatory frameworks related to radiopharmaceuticals in Latin American countries.

Also, to exchange ideas on the challenges identified by the radiopharmaceutical community to meet health regulatory requirements.

“It will also make it possible to increase knowledge about the approval processes applied to radiopharmaceuticals and to share success stories and challenges in the approval process for radiopharmaceuticals,” she said.
