“Following the complaint by former President Evo Morales of an alleged attack on his life, I have instructed an immediate and thorough investigation to clear up this event,” the president wrote on X.
Morales denounced on Sunday that he had been the target of an attack on his life, in which more than 14 shots were fired. He reported that the vehicle in which he was traveling, as well as another one escorting him, were ambushed. One of the bullets fired hit the tire of the armored vehicle in which he was, intending to inmobilize it, however, they later managed to change cars. He also said that it was a clear attempt to assassinate him, since one of the bullets missed him just by a few centimeters.
In reference to this attempt, Arce emphasized that the exercise of any “violent practice in politics must be condemned and clarified,” and warned that problems are not resolved by searching for the dead or by biased speculation.
