The prosecutor of the northern city, Marcello Viola, announced at a press conference the results of an extensive operation carried out by members of the Carabineros Army, which led to the arrest of four people, accused of conspiracy to illegally access computer systems, corruption and disclosure of official secrets.
A report released this Sunday on the digital news site of the television channel RAI News, points out that charges were also filed for illegal wiretapping and complicity against those involved in these crimes, while about 60 persons are being investigated for their alleged connection to these events.
At the briefing, it was revealed that senior executives of the companies Equalize, Mercury Advisor and Develope and Go, among others, were involved in this network of computer spying, intervened by order of the investigating judge, Fabrizio Filice.
The alleged criminal association illegally obtained information on current accounts, criminal records, taxes, health and other data on behalf of large corporations, professional firms and law firms, which paid large sums of money to know about the activities of their competitors.
Among the leaked computer databases are those used by the police, as well as by the Tax Agency (ADE) and the Bank of Italy, from which sensitive data on politicians, as well as important representatives of the economic and financial world, were removed by order and in exchange for large sums of money, the source adds.
