Portal, who toured two reference hospitals in Luanda on Friday, was pleasantly impressed by the conditions of these institutions, with first-world technology placed free of charge at the service of Angolans, in addition to good organization, development of work teams and high scientific level.
The Cuban minister remarked that this shows the full intention of the country’s leadership and the Health Ministry to continue defending life, and assured his Angolan counterpart, Sílvia Lutucuta, of the commitment to continue cooperation and to study ways to expand it.
At the same time, he reiterated that Cuba has the capacity to train specialists in different fields, since it is currently working on training courses in 64 specialties, in addition to Master’s and Doctorate studies.
Another field for exchange can go in the direction of the Cuban biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry and take advantage of the agreement signed a year ago by the drug regulatory agencies of both countries, he further said.
Portal, who toured the Cardeal Dom Alexandre do Nascimento Cardiopulmonary Diseases Hospital Complex and the Dr. Victoria Do Espirito Santo Pediatric Hematology Institute, expressed satisfaction for visiting Angola for the second time.
He added that it has been especially relevant to have been able to get to know closely health care facilities where there is an important participation of Cuban health professionals together with the Angolans, giving their contribution for health and life of the people.
