Syrian anti-aircraft defense repels massive Israeli attack

Damascus, Oct 26 (Prensa Latina) Syrian Army anti-aircraft defense units were activated today to repel an Israeli missile attack in the south, center and west of this Levantine nation.

Local media reported strong explosions in Damascus, the capital and its surroundings, and throughout the southern region of the country, as well as in the central provinces of Hama and Homs, and in the coastal province of Tartous, all resulting from the response to hostile air targets.

Military sources consulted by Prensa Latina confirmed that the Al-Quleib radar plant, in the southern province of Sweida, was damaged by the attacks.

They added that Israel intended to damage the anti-aircraft batteries so that they would not hinder its fighters that are carrying out an aggression against Iran, using the airspace of northern Jordan and southern Syria.

The day before, authorities announced the closure of the Joussieh border crossing between Syria and Lebanon after a Zionist bombing that caused significant material damage to the offices, while several workers were injured.

Last Thursday, a Syrian soldier lost his life and seven others were injured by Israeli air strikes in Damascus, the capital, and in a border area with Lebanon, in the province of Homs.

Israel intensified its hostile military actions against targets in Syrian territory, some against Damascus, such as on the 9th of this month, when a residential building in Mezzeh was attacked, causing nine deaths and 14 injuries.
