The statements were made after learning about the visit of the head of the diplomacy of Taiwan to Nicaragua and his next meeting with the president of that nation, Bernardo Arévalo.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian emphasized that “there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inseparable part of its territory. The government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate representative of the whole of China”.
He also recalled that 53 years ago UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 restored Beijing’s rightful place in the UN and noted that 183 countries established diplomatic relations with China.
According to the spokesman, this proves that Taiwan’s attempts to seek “independence” through political manipulation are futile.
“These acts cannot alter the trend of the times upholding the one-China principle or the inevitable historical process of China’s reunification,” he stressed.
