During bilateral talks in Kazan, the summit’s venue, Xi stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in various areas and addressing key issues for stability in the Middle East.

The Chinese head of state congratulated Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, on Egypt’s first official participation in a BRICS meeting and highlighted the 10 years of comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

He stressed that China is willing to jointly work to foster the construction of the community of shared destiny between the two nations, within the scope of the Belt and Road Initiative.

For his part, the Egyptian president thanked China for its support and reiterated his nation’s commitment to the one-China principle.

Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi was also congratulated on his country’s official inclusion in the BRICS bloc.

Xi stressed the strategic relevance of the bilateral relationship and expressed support for Tehran in protecting its sovereignty and security.
