According to local media, legislator Gabriel Ste. Marie, representative of the Bloc Québécois party in the Joliette constitution, presented to that body the document called e-5014, which also urges the Canadian Government to join the international campaign for Washington to reverse both measures against Havana.
The text denounces the blockade as an obstacle for the Cuban people because it prevents them from fully enjoying their human rights, calls for preserving the sovereignty of the province of Quebec and Canada, and ensuring that corporations and government entities do not participate in the US economic sanctions against Cuba.
It also requests that the necessary guarantees are maintained so that relations between Quebec and Canada and Cuba continue to be based on equality and respect.
Apart from this initiative, personalities, politicians and organizations from all over the world denounce the consequences for Cuba of facing more than six decades of blockade and the inclusion in the list of States that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
On the October 30, the report “Necessity to End the Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade Imposed by the United States of America against Cuba” will be submitted to the United Nations General Assembly for debate and vote, and once again the international community is expected to vote against the permanence of this system of sanctions by Washington.
