Cuba can withstand any gale, says Ambassador to Argentina

Buenos Aires, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban people will withstand any gale, Cuban Ambassador to Argentina, Pedro Pablo Prada, assured on Wednesday and condemned the foreign policy and aggressions of the United States against his country.

The diplomat told reporters that the tightening of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by Washington on the island country for more than six decades is the leading cause of the disconnections of Cuba’s National Electro-energetic Grid (SEN) in recent days.

Prada also pointed out that it is necessary to take into account the effects of the passage of Hurricane Oscar through the eastern Cuban provinces.

The causes lie in the deterioration of the power generation units (…) Last year alone, we lacked 250 million dollars to invest in them, due to the US siege. Cuba’s inclusion in Washington’s State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list has made the situation much worse, preventing us from accessing international financial systems, he said.

Additionally, the ambassador stated that Washington is pressuring and persecuting other nations’ companies and ships so that they do not sell the spare parts and the fuel that Cuba needs.

He indicated that about 80 percent of the national territory has electricity now and highlighted the work done by the sector’s workers.

The Cuban people feel represented by supportive State that is present and a government that will not abandon them even in the worst situations, he assured.
