The completion of this project, based in the new Cuban Cultural Center, which will soon open in the city of Hangzhou, is part of the agreements signed between the UH and the Hangzhou Yunke Cultural Creative Co. Ltd. company in March 2023.

The event took place in the presence of the vice-rector of the University of Havana, Dionisio Zaldívar Silva; the president of the Hangzhou Yunke Cultural Creative Co. Ltd. company, Huang Qiaiming Bao, an expert in planning studies abroad; representatives of the Hangzhou Kanaima Supply Chain Management Co. Ltd.; and Cuban artist Emilio Wong, in charge of the exhibition that will be displayed at the center in November.

At the ceremony, Huang highlighted the importance of the new link with the University of Havana, one of the oldest and most prestigious in Latin America.

The Chinese businessman pointed out that after the Covid-19 pandemic, the international situation became more complicated with the Russia-Ukraine and Middle East conflicts.

“In this context, China is an axis of global development, so it is the responsibility of each compatriot to promote the Belt and Road Initiative strategy,” he said, and called attention to the impact of the United States blockade against Cuba, which has caused great losses to the economy and the people of Cuba, which, however, remains an example of support and solidarity with many nations.

Referring to the same issue, Zaldívar Silva expressed the relevance of this “base of operations” for the promotion and expansion of educational and cultural projects of the China-Latin America Industrial Park in its relationship with Cuba, and noted that the establishment of this office is an evidence of the strengthening of relations between Beijing and Havana over decades. He also congratulated the institutions, companies and individuals who helped make this endeavor a reality.
