Milei said on national television that he would like to “put the final nail in the coffin of Kirchnerism with Cristina inside”, which provoked a strong rebuke from legislators and politicians who recalled an assassination attempt on Fernandez two years ago.
“So now who wants to kill me, too?” The former president posted in a message on X.
“I blame you and the media, which allowed unlimited violent speeches (which ended with an attempt to shoot me in the head), not only for what happened to me but also to other Peronists, members of other opposing political forces, and free popular organizations,” the candidate to lead the Justicialist Party wrote in X.
Leopoldo Moreau, a lawmaker of Union por la Patria (Union for the Homeland, UP) alliance, in turn, criticized Milei’s statements and warned that they are part of “an elaborate construction aimed at those whom he considers his real enemy and fantasizes about assassinating.”
UP bloc leader German Martinez called for an end to the incitement of violence and affirmed that democracy is in danger.
