During the meeting at the Villa Lazzaroni’s theater in Rome, Tapia conveyed a greeting from the Cuban people, their government, and President Miguel Diaz-Canel, to those present, thanking them for the support they have maintained for more than 60 years since the triumph of the Revolution.
Cuban Ambassador to Italy, Mirta Granda, highlighted the presence of leaders and members of several solidarity groups, political parties, trade union organizations, and, above all, the community of Cuban nationals who “from all Italy support the Cuban people and its Revolution.”
Attending the meeting were Cuban Ambassador to the Holy See, Rene Mujica; members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Italy; Ricardo Sbordoni, representing the municipal authorities; and hundreds of people.
Tapia is in Rome leading his country’s delegation that is participating in the 4th World Food Forum being held in Rome from October 14 to 18. He considered that this contact with solidarity groups and fellow countrymen resulted to be one of the most significant and emotional moments of his visit.
