“The country we will have will depend to a great extent on the decisions we make”, he said, adding that “you can make a difference with your vote. You cannot stay neutral in the face of this phenomenon because it is going to shape the lives of generations to come, for years to come”.

He considered that current issues reach beyond being a member or not in the Frente Amplio.

“It is about realizing that we need to get out of this pit in which we have got ourselves”, he stressed.

On October 27, Uruguayans will elect the President of the Republic and deputies to the local Parliament.

They will also cast their ballots on two plebiscites, one to enable nighttime police raids and the other to reform the social security law.
