A note of the international organization’s Press Office states that at a ceremony held the day before, Qu stressed the importance of the third edition of this scientific event, which is part of the 5th World Food Forum that from October 14th to 18th is being held in this capital.
In his opening speech, FAO director general said: “Science, technology and innovation are key accelerators of the transformation of agrifood systems, but they must be inclusive to ensure that the transition is fair and equitable.”
The SIF 2024 has as its theme “Inclusive Science and Innovation for Transforming Agrifood Systems, Leaving No One Behind”, and will be in session until next Friday at FAO headquarters, the document adds.
This edition brings together renowned scientists, innovation experts and policy makers, as well as representatives from various sectors, to foster a diversity of perspectives and an inclusive debate on the role of science and innovation in the transformation of agrifood systems.
