The PF’s final report must present new messages found on electronic devices of those involved in the coup.
The material confirms and reinforces Bolsonaro’s participation in the elaboration of a coup project discussed in meetings held at the Alvorada Palace (official residence of the rulers) after the 2022 elections, when he was defeated at the polls by Lula.
Statements to police experts reveal meetings between authorities to organize the coup.
The PF’s report will close the investigation into digital militias, which has already generated two other reports with accusations against Bolsonaro: one on the falsification of Covid-19 vaccination cards and another on the misappropriation of data from gifts given by foreign authorities, during Bolsonaro’s government.
According to the G1 portal, the third part, related to the coup attempt, took longer, because it was necessary to cross-check data with that of another parallel inquiry of the PF on illegal actions in the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (ABIN) during the former president’s term (2019-2022). The research indicates that public agents used the agency to spy on Bolsonaro’s adversaries, aiming to create and spread fake news.
G1 assures that the conclusion of the search took longer than expected, because the PF had to make time for the investigators to extract the messages from cell phones and computers, confiscated during search operations. Some suspects failed to provide their device passwords, delaying police work.
