Campaign against presidential decree continues in Argentina

Buenos Aires, Oct 16 (Prensa Latina) The Argentine Workers' Central (CTA) and the CTA-Autónoma will hold another national day for the annulment of the decree of necessity and urgency (DNU) 70/2023, signed in December by President Javier Milei.

The rallies will take place in the capital and several squares throughout the country as part of the campaign “A firm people against the DNU”, in which signatures are collected to request the invalidation of the decree.

Among the organizations that support the action are Unidad Popular, the State Workers Association, the Peace and Justice Service, the Center for Legal and Social Studies, the League for Human Rights, the Argentine Judicial Federation, the Coordinator against Police and Institutional Repression, Hijos, the American Association of Jurists, the Corriente Clasista y Combativa, the Communist Party, the Popular Liberation Movement and Patriotic Encounter, among others.

Decree 70/2023 is the main legal instrument used by the Government. The Ministry of Deregulation has already issued several resolutions based on it, including two regarding the commercial aviation market that affect Aerolíneas Argentinas, according to a statement from the CTA-A. In addition, it expands the legislative powers delegated to the President by the Ley Bases and the matters in which Milei can intervene without discussing anything with parliament, which puts everything concerning the administration of the State in emergency for four years, the organization adds.
