“The image of the UN, which cannot even protect its own staff, is a disgrace to the international system and a cause for concern,” said the Turkish president in a televised speech after a meeting of the Republic’s Cabinet.
Erdogan wondered what the UN Security Council is waiting for to stop Israel, and commented on the organization’s inaction in the face of what is happening in the Middle East. He also stressed that the Turkish authorities are determined to get the country safe and sound from the storm of crisis that is ravaging the entire region.
In his speech, President Erdogan stressed Ankara’s relations with the countries of the Turkic world, saying that Turkey’s relations with these countries are gradually developing and flourishing within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States. “We will never forget the help provided by our brothers, especially beloved Azerbaijan, after the earthquakes of February 6th,” the Turkish leader said.
