Seminar on Martí Studies closes in Cuba

Camagüey, Cuba, Oct 15 (Prensa Latina) The closing ceremony of the Youth Seminar on José Martí Studies on Tuesday ratified the aspirations for a better society to be erected on the political thoughts and ethics of the “most universal of all Cubans” as Cuba’s National Hero is revered in his country of birth.

The Avellaneda Theater, in the Historic Center of Camagüey, hosted the event’s awards gala, dedicated this time to the eighth anniversary of the passing of Fidel Castro, considered by many as José Martí’s most prominent disciple.

The keynote speaker, Lennys Ayala, said “we are a generation that needs to revive the National Hero of Cuba every day.” Ayala, who received an award from the Seminar’s jury, noted that the closely approaching Martí is “the first step to integrate into work and the social endeavors performed by our people.”

Nearly 80 children, teenagers and adolescents from all Cuban provinces participated in the contest and competed in the theoretical section about Martí’s ethics and legacy, and vied for awards in various artistic categories.
