Ethiopia calls for concrete solutions to security issues in Africa

Addis Ababa, Oct 15 (Prensa Latina) In the Third Conference of African Defense Ministers, Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh stressed that the serious security threats currently facing Africa demand solutions beyond mere dialogue.

Tiruneh emphasized on the growing challenges posed by this issue inthe continent, as well as the difficulty in resolving internal conflicts, cross-border tensions and growing terrorist threats.

The dignitary warned about nations that achieved peace and stability and are now dealing with renewed tensions, in addition to the extension of extremist activities into areas previously considered safe. He also stressed the need to seek solutions that go beyond discussions, pointing to viable measures to address these critical problems.

Tiruneh described the purpose of the conference as a platform to discuss these challenges and develop a unified approach to improve security throughout Africa.

The African Union recognized Ethiopia’s ongoing contributions to peace and stability.

The Third African Defense Ministers’ Conference will be held until October 19 at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum in the capital city, under the theme “Africa: United in Peace, Strong in Security!”

According to the local Government Communication Service, the conference is focused on enhancing peace, security and unity across the continent. It will serve as an ideal venue to showcase Ethiopia’s central role in peace and stability efforts, both within Africa and internationally.
