“As a close neighbor of the Korean Peninsula, China is closely monitoring the developments in the inter-Korean relations. Tension on the peninsula is not conducive to the common interests of all parties concerned,” Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said.
Mao reiterated Beijing’s commitment to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and its willingness to continue to promote a political solution to the issue. She made the remarks when asked to comment on reports from the Republic of Korea (RoK) that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) had damaged a section of border traffic infrastructure.
Kim Yo-jong, Deputy Department Director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), on Tuesday warned of the consequences of Seoul’s latest provocations.
We have received evidence that the RoK’s military leadership is the main responsible for the hostile and provocative act of violating the DPRK sovereignty by flying drones over Pyongyang,” Kim denounced in a statement.
The official warned of a “tragedy” if South Korean drones fly over her country again.
