St. Kitts and Nevis top diplomat slams US blockade on Cuba

Havana, Oct 14 (Prensa Latina) The Minister of Foreign Affairs of St. Kitts and Nevis, Denzil Douglas, condemned the U.S. blockade against Cuba, according to Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Douglas strongly rejected the hostility the U.S. Government has imposed on Cuba for over 60 years, according to the press release. The diplomat made his statement during a ceremony to welcome six general practitioners and a stomatologist trained in Cuban institutions, in which the St. Kitts and Nevis’ governor general, Dame Marcella Liburd, also participated.

He further declared that it is important to denounce this U.S. policy in all available fora and conveyed a message of solidarity to the Cuban people, the text adds.

Similar terms were used by the Ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis in Havana, Verna Mills, through a video presented at the official reception.

Liburd urged the graduates “to serve their country with devotion and dedication”, in addition to thanking “Cuba for its great contribution to the social development of many countries.”

Meanwhile, Cuban Ambassador in Basseterre, David Rivero, “extolled once again Fidel Castro and his dream of unity and equity for our nations.”
