Body: A Cuban television report reviewed the president’s participation in the international event that began this Monday in Rome, capital of Italy, where it will be held until next Friday.
According to the television report, Díaz-Canel invited the world’s business community to consider Cuba as a strategic partner, with the purpose of increasing agricultural production and contributing to food security in the nation.
Among the guarantees he mentioned to attract foreign direct investment, the head of state highlighted the availability of highly qualified human resources and the infrastructure, which, he said, is in the process of being strengthened.
Likewise, the president listed some of the strategies undertaken in Cuba to strengthen and diversify agricultural and livestock production, based on the sustainable management of natural resources.
He stated that all the actions are in accordance with the Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutrition Security Act, a legislation approved in May 2022.
He also denounced the damage to food security caused by the hostile policies applied for more than six decades by the United States governments against the people of the island.
Cuba attends the forum with a delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister, Jorge Luis Tapia, and also made up of the Cuban ambassador to Italy, Mirta Granda, and representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture and Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, among others.
World leaders, businessmen and experts participate in the event in person and virtually, addressing the precarious global food situation and initiatives to address it. The event is part of the commemoration of World Food Day on October 16, which this year will have as its theme “The Right to Food, for a better life and future.”
