A statement released by the Cuban Embassy in Rome informed that Tapia arrived here on Sunday, leading the Cuban delegation to the event convened by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). He was welcome by Cuba’s Ambassador to Italy, Mirta Granda.
The Cuban entourage includes high-ranking officials from the Agriculture Ministry (MINAGRI) and the Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Ministry (MINCEX), as well as a number of diplomats
As part of his agenda, Tapia will meet with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu and authorities of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the WFP.
The event, where world leaders, entrepreneurs and experts address the critical global food situation and the initiatives to tackle it, is considered a global platform to shape actively agri-food systems and accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year’s analyses are structured around three pillars related to youth, science and innovation, and the investments needed to boost the sector on a global scale, according to a note issued by the Press Office of that international organization.
