More than 20,000 militants were summoned to visit neighborhoods all over the country with a vote-by-vote, person-by-person quest.
This is how the FA president, Fernando Pereira, described it in a press conference this week after concluding a meeting to plan the last stretch of the electoral campaign.
The meeting was attended by the candidates of the presidential ticket, Yamandú Orsi and Carolina Cosse; the FA Executive Secretariat and the candidates at the top of the lists for the Senate.
This week Orsi and Cosse were in the departments of Maldonado, San José, Canelones, Montevideo, Rocha and Treinta y Tres. They also met with cooperative members, businessmen, young people and other sectors of society.
The Frente Amplio leads the polls and Orsi has a considerable advantage over his closest rival, the National Party standard bearer, Álvaro Delgado.
However, Orsi has warned that the electoral contest is not won yet, and analysts and polls agree on this, which show a close result for the second round, on November 24. mh/oda/ool
