At a reception for the 76th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, Matsegora noted that this year the celebration has a special significance.
Moscow and Pyongyang have intensified their cooperation in different areas following the two summits, held in Russia last September and in the DPRK last June, between the top leaders of the two countries, Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin.
In the DPRK, the two signed a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty, according to which “if one of the two parties is subjected to a situation of war as a result of an armed invasion of an individual country or of several nations, the other party shall without delay provide military and other assistance”.
The Ambassador welcomed the speed with which bilateral cooperation is increasing not only in defence and security, but also in education, public health, science and technology, agriculture and other fields, for the benefit of their peoples.
Responding to his words, DPRK Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui expressed willingness to further develop these relations on the firm basis of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty.
She also expressed her conviction that the Russian army and people will be victorious in their sacred mission of upholding the right to sovereignty and security of the country, and building a multipolar world under the leadership of President Putin.
