Parliament asks Nicaraguan Government to break relations with Israel

Managua, Oct 11 (Prensa Latina) The National Assembly (Parliament) of Nicaragua today asked the Sandinista Executive to evaluate the breaking of diplomatic relations with the Zionist Government of Israel for the atrocious actions committed against the Palestinian people.

Through a statement read in a special session by the president of Parliament, Gustavo Porras, the deputies condemned the genocide committed by Israeli forces against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip and other areas of the Arab country.

“This systematic destruction that began seventy-six years ago has claimed the lives, since October 2023, of more than forty-two thousand people, mainly women, children and the elderly; every day the numbers continue to increase,” the statement said.

He added that Zionism and its allies impose their arrogance, cruelty, and extreme hatred against innocent families, and mercilessly bomb civilian infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, and homes.

According to the text, these actions, which he described as brutal, leave the population devastated, not only by the murders, but also by the destruction of their livelihoods.

“The brutality of the Israeli government reflects a clear stance of a war of extermination, which constitutes crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, and a deliberate policy of annihilation,” he stressed.

In this sense, he described the massacre in Gaza as “the most detestable atrocity of the 21st century and one of the worst in the history of humanity.”

“Despite this barbarity, the world oligarchy that dominates Western governments, the media, and international organizations, supposed defenders of human rights, hide the true dimension of the suffering and destruction of the Palestinian people,” he emphasized.

According to the statement, Israel, with the complicity and logistical and military support of the North American and European empires, intends to extend its barbarism throughout the Middle East and endangers world peace and security.

It recalled Nicaragua’s constant call in international forums for peace in Palestine and the region, as well as the denunciations of the Tel Aviv government’s policies of extermination.

“We took action before the International Court of Justice rejecting the violations of International Law, Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law committed by the Zionist government of Israel,” the statement said.

In the presence of part of the diplomatic corps accredited here, the Nicaraguan deputies also reaffirmed the historical ties of brotherhood with the Arab nation, while showing their respect for the Israeli people who demand the cessation of the crimes committed by the Zionist army.

They reiterated their demand for compliance with all United Nations resolutions for the creation of the State of Palestine, as a free, sovereign, independent and self-determined State.
