The Annual Report 2024 on Children and Armed Conflict published by the United Nations Organization expresses deep concern about the terror established by gangs.
This document – disclosed by the digital newspaper Haiti Libre – recounts the serious violations of children’s rights, such as forced recruitment, killings, sexual violence and attacks on schools.
Recently, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights reported that violence continues to be a problem in Haiti, where 20 persons died per day in the first half of 2024.
According to a statement, 3,661 citizens were killed in that period, showing a higher level of violence compared to the same period in 2023.
