Construction of bridge between Paraguay and Brazil progresses

Asunción, Oct 11 (Prensa Latina) The construction of the Bioceanic Bridge is approaching 60 percent complete on both banks of the Paraguay River, between the cities of Carmelo Peralta and Puerto Murtinho (Brazil), the IPParaguay agency reported today.

This bridge is part of the Bioceanic Corridor, a strategic project that will facilitate the connection between Paraguay and Brazil, promoting trade and development in the region. It is also financed by Itaipu Binacional and is under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications.

The mega project will allow for the substantial improvement of the physical infrastructure and regional integration between Paraguay and Brazil, by facilitating border transit and streamlining customs procedures, thus achieving high logistic efficiency, greater economic competitiveness and more effective regional integration.

The activities carried out on both sides of the Paraguay River allow us to gauge the magnitude of the future border crossing with Brazil, the third in importance after the Friendship Bridge and the new Integration Bridge, the Ministry assures.
