At a press conference, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning, referring to reports, stated that the attack injured peacekeeping personnel.
Mao described the attack on peacekeepers as a grave violation of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
She underscored that this “unacceptable” act must stop immediately, and recalled that “any deliberate targeting of UN peacekeepers is a flagrant violation that cannot be tolerated.”
The spokesperson called to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident to blame the perpetrators and take the necessary steps to prevent its recurrence.
“We demand the opposing sides, in particular Israel, to take immediate actions to de-escalate tensions and ensure the safety of UN peacekeepers to prevent further escalation of the conflict,” she added.
