President deems Honduran Supreme Court’s resolution historic

Tegucigalpa, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) The President of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, has described as historic the recent resolution by the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ), which ratified the constitutionality of decree 04-2022, local media reported today.

This decree establishes the law for the reconstruction of the constitutional rule of law, in a bid to avoid pasts mishaps.

In a message on the social network X, Castro affirmed that it puts an end to attacks and all forms of harassment from sectors who favored the coup d’ etat of June 28, 2009 , which overthrew then President Manuel Zelaya.

That coup imposed onus by fraudulent means a dictator who is now convicted of drug trafficking in the United States’, said the president in the aforementioned digital platform.

Honduran Supreme Court magistrates’ plenary decided this Tuesday, by majority vote, to dismiss the appeals filed against decree 04-2022 on alleged basis of unconstitutionality.

According to a Canal 8 television report on its website, the decision by the CSJ is significant as part of the legislative process seeking to restore confidence in the country’s legal system and ensure that measures are taken to prevent human rights violations and abuses of power.

In addition, the resolution reaffirmed the commitment of the Honduran judicial system to legality and the strengthening of institutions, as part of which regaining public trust in the State is fundamental.
