Forum on prestigious Mexican diplomat concludes in Cuba

Havana, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) The 2nd Forum "Gilberto Bosques: Ambassador to Cuba" ends in this capital on Wednesday.

Opened on Tuesday, the event brings together historians and members of the Foreign Service of Cuba and Mexico. They recall the work done by Bosques, a Mexican diplomat who served as an Ambassador to Havana from 1953 to 1964.

Gathered at the Museum House of Mexico, Benito Juarez, in Old Havana, the participants praised the human values and courage of the man who saved people persecuted by Fulgencio Batista’s dictatorship (1953-1959) during a turbulent period in Cuba’s history. They recalled that due to his support for the Cuban cause, after January 1, 1959, the revolutionary government requested the Mexican government to keep the ambassador and friend in his position.”

At the opening of the forum, Mexican Ambassador to Cuba, Miguel Diaz, stressed the importance of documenting history, recovering memory, and giving life to the legacy of the man considered the spearhead of historical diplomacy, based on his country’s principles.

He also thanked historians, researchers, and institutions from both countries for their efforts in documenting Bosque’s legacy to diplomacy and friendship between Mexico and Cuba.

On Wednesday, the fraternal relations between Cuba and Mexico highlight the close cultural and historical ties between the two nations.
